OPTICAL SPECTROSCOPY OF BIDIMENSIONAL MATERIALS

Research activities:

  • Synthesis of two-dimensional materials by CVD;
  • Optical characterization of new atomically thin materials;
  • Development of nanoscale photolithograph and handling methods to 2D materials.

  • Research activities focus on the study of the vibrational and electronic properties of the two-dimensional materials. We are interested in the synthesis of the transition metal chalcogenide family, such as MoS2, WS2, MoSe2 and their heterostructure formed by monolayer stacking. Specifically, we studied the behavior of electrons and phonons in the presence of defects, dopants, electric fields, etc.  Experimental techniques involve the synthesis by chemical vapor deposition  (CVD), photolithography, Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy.
