Rodrigo Prioli Menezes is an Associate professor of Physics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). His research focuses on the tribological and mechanical properties of materials in nanoscale. He received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), master’s and PhD degree in Physics from the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (CBPF). He conducted posdoctoral research at PUC-Rio studying the correlation of mechanical and tribological properties of carbon-based materials and Arizona State University studying mechanical deformation modes in semiconductor materials. His current interest is in the understanding of the nanomechanical and tribological properties of a wide range of materials – from 2D materials, to semiconductor nanostructures, to rocks – developing projects in the field of atomic force microscopy, friction force microscopy, force modulation, ultrasonic atomic force microscopy and nanoindentation.
