Biophysics of Nanoparticles

The possibility to control the physical and chemical properties of the local environment in human cell compartments, is extremely important in modern nanomedicine. In particular, the uptake of nanoparticles by cells may trigger different biological processes, depending on both the dimension, chemical reactivity, and the response of the nanoparticles to external electromagnetic radiation. The NanoLaserLab, aim to the synthesis of nanoparticles with controlled physical and chemical properties, with the possibility to modulate the local temperature and the local chemical environment (i.e gases, reactive oxygen species (ROS)).

Particular attention is given to the angiogenic and anti-inflammatory properties of the synthesized nanoparticles, whose biological effect is experimented both in vitro and in vivo by external collaborations.
