Neutrino phenomenology, from meV to PeV
Prof. Pedro Holanda – Unicamp
7 de maio – 5a.feira – 17h – sala L776
Neutrinos, being the only neutral leptons in the Standard Model, feel only the weak interaction, which makes their detection particularly challenging. However, this difficulty is also a great advantage when using these particles to investigate astrophysical objects. In this seminar, I will discuss recent neutrino phenomenology for energies ranging from meV to PeV, exploring how this property makes them unique probes of the interior of the Sun, the Earth, and supernova explosions. Furthermore, neutrinos are the only known candidates for Majorana particles, raising interesting theoretical questions. A summary of my research in neutrino physics, astrophysics, and cosmology will be presented.
