Received his Ph.D. (1990) in Physics from Universidade de São Paulo (São Carlos), M.S. (1984) and B.S. degree (1981) in Electrical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. From 1991 to 1992 he was a Pew Latin American Fellow with the Department of Physics at New York University, U.S.A. From 1987 to 1988 he joined the Istituto di Elettronica dello Stato Solido, CNR, Italy as an International Center for Theoretical Physics Fellow. His research interests involve the design of new magnetic field sensors, electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation and biomagnetism.
